Absolute Music #44

Musik: Jazz

Szymon pimpon. Szymon Gasiorek: drums, percussion, etc. A Polish drummer and composer. In April 2022 he released his debut solo album "Pozdrawiam" (ENG: Greetings) on Pointless Geometry.

Sonically innovative, rich in genre, the material combines heavy percussive rhythms with electronic sequences, abstract synthesizer passages, noise, field recordings, static textures, as well as a pop sensibility channeled through autotuned vocals. The album sits comfortably between pop aesthetics, trancelike quality, and experimentation. The album was followed by b-day EP released in 2023 on Love & Beauty Music. Szymon studied at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen. He leads bands such as the post-jazz outfit Pimpono Ensemble, or E/I, engaged in minimalistic music.
"It's a pop album, it's a highly intricat
e sound art album and it's a virtuoso psychedelic percussion album all in one. (...) But Pimpon's real triumph isn't the sonic diversity, it's how it congeals into a coherent and singular world." - Daryl Worthington, The Quietus

THE HITE WOUSE FEAT. BEN RODNEY
Ben Rodney: trumpet / Jon Lipscomb: guitar / Fredrik Håkansson: drums / Asger Thomsen: bass
The Hite Wouse is an American-Swedish-Danish electric powerhouse trio improvising on the verge of far-out abstraction and almost-quantifiable nothingness. In other words: Stuff you want to play out in the Mojave desert, burning sun, people sweating so much that they dont have any tears left when the shit really hits them.
